Birds Of A Feather...Stick Together
When it's time to write, you just know.
It's been a hot minute since I've expressed anything into words on here. We are in the thick of summer, temperatures hoovering around 30 degrees Celsius....some would say too hot, I say absolutely perfect. A summer filled with new friends, adventures, long days at the beach, family visits, even a budding new romance. I couldn't ask for more, even if some are temporary.
In just a few short days, I will be joining my children camping. I mean, tent, sleeping bag and pillows....I haven't done this in years. I'm not sure the last time I was an owner of tent and sleeping bag. One thing I know, I am excited to create memories with those I love. Even if I wake up stiff as a board, not in the enjoyable way either...
I have never been so content in my life. These past 3 months have been pure bliss, a few tears a lot of WTF moments and an endless supply of laughter. When "they" say laughter is the best medicine. You better believe it, throw in a snort or two and you have the remedy to cure anything.
My 18 months of celibacy came to an end. What an end it was. Has left me speechless and wanting more.
Let me introduce to you, Mr Tesla. I met him on Tinder, (yes I vowed I was done with on-line dating) what hell, it's hot girl summer after all.
It was an early June evening, we decided to meet, go for a walk around a very popular and busy park here in London. No expectations. I had my car if I wanted to leave. He was early...I pulled up and parked, said I'm here. I looked around the only car I saw that had someone nearby was a dark grey Tesla...I simply rolled my eyes...he's probably a vegan I said...this should be interesting.
As I approached his car, he smiled so sweet and waved at me, clearly recognizing me from my pictures. Without even thinking, I said how many times have you been stranded on the side of the road? He promptly said never, and my house has never caught on fire.
We laughed and talked like we were best friends for years. Something so eerily comfortable and easy. Next thing we knew, we were walking and holding hands....yes...I just met him. It just felt right.
Before we parted for the night, he asked to see me again, and we kissed.
We talked a little here and there the rest of the night. Then he asked if I wanted to get breakfast with him in the morning. Of course I do. Tell me the place and I'll meet you there. I would like to pick you up he said. I finally agreed. The next morning right at 8:30am he was there outside my place waiting for me to come out. He walked up to me, gave me a welcoming smile and little kiss and opened the passenger door for me. Chivalry is not dead. It simply takes a real man to show you. I let him lead. Lead he did.
It's been a beautiful 2 months, where it will lead now is anyone's guess. Summer fling? Or something more? Either way, I feel extremely blessed to have met him and shared such passion and lightheartedness with. Moments that will last a lifetime in my memory bank.
Life always seems to step in and shake things up. His ill father and demanding work schedule, has proven to be too much. He had to retreat. Would I have stood beside him and be the friend he needed, yes. Does he already have those friends, Yes. I respect him, and his decision. I know I will see him again, even just in passing. We will smile at each other and know what we had was something real. Until we meet again Mr Tesla, enjoy life to the fullest.
I am now deep into job hunting. My sole focus now is to keep moving forward. Head up, shoulders back and a huge smile on my face.I know, what is meant for me, will not pass me by. Onward and Upward....Always
pink pony club,
Carrie xo
PS.... Mr Tesla, is NOT a vegan :)
