From White to Red...
I decided to help out my Mom. It was a beautiful Saturday, wind blowing, trees swaying, sun shinning high in the sky. I wanted to be outside and enjoy myself. So I decided to clean up Moms flowerbeds. I haven't had an opportunity to do this is many years. I loved it. The bending, the pulling, the moving. Music blasting through my ear buds I was living my best life. Lost track of time. When I was done the beds looked great.
First thing I noticed, I was a different colour...
I was no longer white skinned, I was a deep red, with patches of purple on my back and shoulders, little bubbles all over my arms. The term I'd like to use is...BURNT TO A CRISP.... as you all know, I am fair skinned and red hair....
need I say more...
I should have known better. To work in full sun, 30+ degrees outside...I'm on vacation... that didn't matter, the sun does not discriminate.
Well that little stunt has landed me in cool bathwater, aloe lotion from head to toe, almost dying of heat stroke for two days solid. I am feeling a lot better, still uncomfortable but surviving.
That there people, is how you know if you are alive.
It's always the first sunburn of the year that always hurts the most. My brother trying to find the positive in the situation said, you'll at least get a nice tan...you know, he's probably right.
Moral of this story is, next time I offer my services I will come prepared, with sweet coconut lotion, a cold bev and long sleeves :)
pour some sugar on me
