The longing is a lonely road

Mirror mirror on the wall.....

We have all been there. Had/have that friend of the opposite sex who is available 24/7. One who would drop everything in an instant to run to your aid. They don't ask questions. The one who sits quietly in the corner waiting to be picked by you: your biggest cheerleader, the one who finds no fault in anything you do. The one who is madly in love with you, but knows you're out of their league. So they choose to be your friend instead...patiently waiting for you to see them.   They never fully commit to anyone; they compare every single person to you, hoping to find a version of you in someone else. You know, the one that you friend zoned from day one.

The one who  was there through every heartbreak and a broken relationship,  and still smiles and gives you encouragement. Or how about the one who jokes about forever with you.  Or the one who wants to make an honest woman of you.. I do cherish each one, yet something was missing..... after two failed attempts at being a wife. I have  upped my boundaries and made a list of...yes a list of qualities my  forever man would have.

No, he doesn't have to be rich, No he doesn't have to be drop dead gorgeous, No he doesn't have to be perfect. What he needs to be is: emotionally vulnerable (not with everyone just me) that leads into emotional maturity, we need to have the same values, he is intelligent, stands for what he believes in. Eye contact that simply cannot be explained.  Feeling safe to be your goofy crazy, authentic self.

Time stood still. I found someone I wanted to take care of emotionally, physically, spiritually. Fall asleep with my head on his chest my arms wrapped around him like its our last night together.  Wake up every morning to a smouldering gaze that quickly turns into a passionate kiss. That is what I long for over and over again.

I found it, and I lost it.  Yet, I feel like I won in the end.

until we meet again,
